Freesale and Capfreesale Agreements

By mutual agreement between carriers, flight operator may search for an alternate flight and execute re-accommodation on the behalf of the company. In this case the marketing partner does not have to re-accommodate his(her) passengers on his(her) own.

If there are no such agreements, carriers re-accommodate their passengers independently, using their own re-accommodation processes.

Marketing passengers protection is a process which allows to search an alternate flight for passengers of the marketing partner when the flight operator due to flight parameters change re-accommodates his(her) passengers:

  1. Aircraft configuration (cabin removal etc.)
  2. Booking class (class removal etc.)
  3. Route
  4. Class Mapping
  5. Codeshare Flights table:
  • partner flight number(s) changing
  • agreement validity period changing.

The Marketing passengers protection indicator defines schedule change telegram possessing type in the flight operator’s inventory system. It is only applicable to the FreeSale and CapFreeSale agreements in case of schedule changes do not affect the flight number.

  • protection on: flight operator’s Inventory system marketing partner’s passengers are re-accommodated according to the flight operator’s inventory settings and business-rules parameters . The alternate flight may be another flight within agreements with the same marketing partner and the same agreement type.
  • protection off: the flight operator does not re-accommodate marketing passengers — all the PNRs are set to the UN status and the telegram is sent to the 67th queue of the marketing partner’s inventory system for the subsequent manual processing.

If this indicator is not set, then a marketing partner should turn on the Block cancellation from operator indicator (if he also keeps his flight inventory in the Amber Inventory system).

This Block cancellation from operator indicator defines a schedule telegram processing mode received from the flight operator in case of passenger re-accommodation:

  • setting on: telegrams about PNR set to UN status are forwarded to the 67th queue for manual processing
  • setting off: telegrams from the flight operator are automatically applied to the PNRs.

This setting is only applicable if both operating and marketing partners keep their recourses int the Amber Inventor system. It may should be set if the flight operator does not protect marketing passengers (Marketing passengers protection parameter is not set). If the marketing passengers are protected by the flight operator, then this parameter may not be turned on.

When a transfer is initiated by the flight operator:

  1. If the operator protects marketing passengers, then the transfer of marketing passengers is carried out on behalf of the operator. In an automatic mode for the marketing passengers in the system, the search for codeshare flights is carried out within the same agreement.
  2. If the operator does not protect the marketing passengers, then the search for transfer solutions is not carried out, marketing bookings are canceled in the operator's system, the corresponding telegrams are sent to the marketing partner.

In case the flight type is changed, from marketing to prime and vice versa, it is required to reissue the ticket for orders issued on interline partner forms. For tickets issued on the operator's forms or a form of a third party to the agreement, SSR OTHS with the text INVOLUNTARY REISSUE TICKET and a comment from the transfer plan are added to the telegram for the distribution system. For other tickets issued in a neutral or in-house session, an automatic ticket revalidation is performed.

If the option of cancellation blocking from the operator is activated, in case a flight is cancelled by the operator, an automatic transfer plan is not generated by the marketing carrier. In this case, to transfer its passengers the marketing carrier must manually create a transfer plan with the option Only for flights out-of-schedule activated - in this case, the transfer plan will include all PNR of the flight. In this plan, the periods for all flight segments from which passengers are to be transferred must be indicated. It is especially important to pay attention to this when working with multi-leg flights with the change of the calendar day on the second or subsequent leg.

An example of how to use this setting:

The flight is performed by an agreement between the FO (flight operator) companies and the MC (marketing carrier). Flight route: OVB-KRR-DME with a change of the calendar day, which means OVB-KRR is carried out on one day and KRR-DME is carried out on the following day.

The Flight operator cancels the schedule for 01.07. On the FR part, if the setting for blocking the flight cancellation telegram from the operator is on, one must manually create a transfer plan for the flight for the period 01.07-02.07 with a mark Out-of-schedule segments only. In this case, PNR from the canceled flight will be included in the transfer plan.

Otherwise:

  • if the transfer plan is created for the period 01.07-02.07 but without a mark, PNR from the flight departing on 02.07 will also be included in it, yet this flight is not canceled
  • if only the period 01.07-01.07 is specified in the transfer plan, only PNR from the OVB-KRR segment will be included in the plan, and PNR from the second segment departing on the next day will not be transferred.

Blockspace agreements

Under blockspace method of realization of seats, each carrier carries out re-accommodation using its own inventory system. An operating carrier does not carry out re-accommodation of passengers of marketing partners. A marketing partner re-accommodates passengers of its blocks on available flights in its inventory system.

In case of changing a block size:

  1. The operating carrier informs the marketing carrier about it within the period stipulated in the agreement.
  2. The marketing carrier:
  • Corrects their inventory data (this method is applicable while changing the block size on the particular date).
  • Creates a new sale configuration and changes the schedule of its flight (this method is applicable while changing the block size for a longer period of time).
  • Initiates re-accommodation if it is required.
