AC Configuration and Seat Maps management

Two reference books for managing aircraft configurations are provided in the System:

Physical configuration is a geometric and graphic description of an aircraft. The description includes seats, rows and numbering as well as seat characteristics, affiliation with cabins and seat arrangement including other objects which are parts of the aircraft (lavatories, galleys, exits and others).

Sale configuration is a description of virtual (sale) cabins and a number of seats in these cabins. Information about these parameters are given in the form they are presented in a schedule.

Configurations for a certain type of an aircraft are defined on an airline level. Multiple configurations may be created for the same aircraft type. Sale configurations are used in flight schedule. To sell tickets without selecting seats, it is enough to create a sale configuration and a flight schedule.

To sell tickets with a seats selection, it is mandatory to specify a physical configuration corresponding to a sale configuration which is used in the schedule. Number of seats by cabins in the sale configuration may be less than a number seats by cabins in the physical configuration. As a number and a size of sale cabins must correspond to specified data in the physical configuration, it is necessary to define an arrangement of sale seats in the cabins.

Seat map is an aircraft seat map specified on a level of a flight leg. The seat map provides sale with a selection of a seat on flight segments corresponding to the given leg. User can manage seat maps while managing flight resources.

Configuration management is carried out in the Dictionaries section. Viewing a seat map on a flight is available on the inventory screen, it is also possible to book a seat. In addition, you may specify a seat for a passenger from the PNR management section.

Rules of the automatic confirmation of booking with a seat selection and defining blocked seats in a cabin are implemented by business rules of the "Seats" group.

An airline may sell tickets both without numbers of seats and with numbers of seats simultaneously but on different flights and on different dates. For selling without numbers of seats, it is enough to use a sale configuration only without forming physical configurations.

For selling with seats numbers, it is mandatory to form a physical configuration and to associate it with a sale configuration which are being used. Such an association is possible provided that a total number of seats in all cabins of the physical configuration is not less than a total number of seats in all cabins of the sale configuration. Names and a number of cabins may not correspond to these parameters of the physical configuration.

The same physical configuration may be associated with multiple sale configurations.
