POS Groups

Point of sale (POS) is a point of sale where air transportation is booked (sold). POS is defined by a set of elements that describe the sales office where the carriage was issued. The system uses the POS Group concept, which incorporates many POSs, and, accordingly, many elements that characterize these POSs.

AIRIMP37 (Section 2.5.1) describes the components of the POS essence that can be used to describe it.

Padis message standards 10.1 (Section 5.46) describe the elements of the ORG segment and examples of their use to describe the place where the carriage is ticketed.

POS elements used to describe the POS Group:

  • System – Booking system (Three-character code of an external airline booking system or a distribution system)
  • Language
  • Currency
  • Country
  • Location - can be set by the parameters: City or Airport
  • Agency type
  • IATA ID Group - Agency ID in case of booking control from the GDS
  • IATA ID / ERSP / 1H agency ID* – IATA code of the agency /ERSP/Agency code 1H/Point of sale (POS)
  • Inhouse ID* / 1H point - Internal agency code (PCC, Office ID, etc)
  • ERSP user ID / CLID - Unique online-agency user code
  • Terminal ID
  • Agent duty / ID – Authorization code or agent identifier.

Search, creation and editing the directory of POS groups is performed in the section Business rules → Dictionaries → POS groups.

Tip.png To view the entry data, select it in the presented list and perform double left-click or use the Open command from the entry context menu by the right-click or click Actions → Open in the section menu.
Important.png The section's entries are available for editing only for users with the appropiate access rights. Without these rights, users can only view the entries.

To edit the selected entry, use one of the following ways:

  • Click Actions → Edit in the section's menu.
  • Use the Edit command from the entry context menu by the right-click.
  • Open the entry for viewing and click on the Edit link.
